Expert is a professional bioethicist and works seamlessly among medical professionals, clinicians and community organizations
addressing critical healthcare issues such as ethics, risk, policy and quality care. Conducting clinical bioethics consultations and dealing with
highly sensitive situations are among her greatest strengths. In 2009, Expert published a book entitled "Doctors in Transition". This book
focused on physicians who when completing the training process, were granted the title of "attending" and given full authority to care for
patients.
Expert found through her sociological ethnographic research that first-year attendee's had many unresolved issues emerged: developing a
style of doctoring, acquiring an authoritative role, and dealing with professional uncertainty, malpractice, balancing work and family life. Expert
believes that by understanding the first-year attendee's socialization process can help medical educators expand their body of knowledge and
improve patient care. As of late, Expert has published an article on concierge medicine and continues to explore other areas of bioethics.

Expert improved ethics committee internal perception. While serving on Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) ethics committee, reviewed case of a neonatologist concerned for a patient whose parents did not agree with course of treatment. Opened lines of communication with all parties and resolved issue quickly. Overcame resistance, resulting in departments feeling more inclined to request consultations from committee. Expert carefully balanced religion and bioethics. Case came before CHOP's ethics committee regarding a family with strict religious beliefs which conflicted with a physician's ethical responsibility to his patient. She held numerous discussions with physician, patient and family. She consulted with family's Rabbi for guidance who brought in additional religious leaders to assist in the decision process, determining best possible outcome. Expert researched policies and procedures. A CHOP's Pharmacist came to ethics committee regarding licensing issues. Researched and documented policies, recommending changes and/or additions. Since then, policies have changed, giving Pharmacists more autonomy. Expert developed marketing material for new hospital resource center. A new department at CHOP's (family resource center) was about to open, but no material was available on its offerings for families. Expert developed written material, booklets for each hospital room explaining resources available to families (computers, library, DVDs, beds, etc.)
