Expert has had experience applying his Chemical Engineering background to Research and Development and Post-graduate work in food technology in the freeze-drying of model substances, in air drying of tropical fruits and vegetables, in ultrasonic assisted extraction of vegetable oils. Also in commercial multi-line canning operations integrated back to the can making process. Among the retail products he has had experience packing we count tomato products, nectars and juices, vegetables, different kinds of beans, etc. Concentrated products such as tomato paste, concentrated banana puree and juice. Organizationally he has been responsible for QA/QC Management, Operations Management, Plant Management and General Management with multiple responsibilities. As consultant he has been involved in several projects, such as the technical support for the development of a project in Vietnam for the packing of canned nectars and juices.

Expert in his capacity of plant manager of two different canneries in Guatemala and Puerto Rico coordinated the filing with the US FDA of the thermal processes of products such as refried beans, canned beans, low acid baby foods, sweet corn, sweet peas, string beans and other products. He also coordinated with the National Food Laboratory in California which was the processing authority, to generate the heat penetration and other needed data for those products that required it for thermal processing purposes.

During his 15 years employment with a major banana company first as general manager of three plants in Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica directed the handling and ripening of fresh bananas to be used as raw material for the production of banana puree, concentrated puree and concentrated clarified banana juice.

Towards the end of his involvement, with a major banana company, Expert helped change the aseptic packaging in rigid containers (55 gal drums and N10 cans) to bag in box (BIB) containers 285 gallons, bag in drum containers 55 gallons and BIB 5 gallons containers. As consultant Expert assisted a plant in Ecuador to file thermal processes for aseptic packaged low acid banana and pumpkin purees.

During his employment with the largest cannery in Guatemala Expert was responsible for a whole line of refrigerated meat products, including cooked ham, lunch cold cuts, and several sausages. He later was involved with packing several refrigerated and frozen tropical fruit products in Honduras and Costa Rica, among them: refrigerated whole peeled bananas, frozen purees (4+1) and (7+1), both in 5 gallons plastic pails and in bag-in-box. Expert also packed frozen concentrated clarified banana juice in 55 galllons drums with plastic liners. As consultant Expert served as technical advice to legal counsel in relation to a case of discoloration due to improper temperature control during transportation and storage of CCBJ.

While based in Ohio provided techical support and process development for a brand new plant in Costa Rica including negotiations with the equipment suppliers. The plant was started up and produces single strength and concentrated banana puree packed in aseptic bins bag in box and bag in drum containers.

He was based in Costa Rica and supervised the refurbishing of a dehydrated soups plant in Heredia Costa Rica to which bullion cubes production capabilities were added. The plant was subsequently started up and brought on stream. He also supervised the addition of a laundry soap manufacturing plant to a palm oil refining operation in San Expert Sula, Honduras. This was also started up.

The Honduras plant packed sliced bananas in syrup in N10 cans as well as several other refrigerated and fozen banana products. All production was exported to the USA and Europe.
