Expert learned his formulation skills on the bench with major finished product manufacturers in many of the most recognized personal care product areas : color cosmetics, skin care, toiletries, sunscreens and hair care. He has formulated and brought to market numerous finished products in all these categories and was granted US patents for many of the technologies implemented therein. Much of the work focused on skin care and sunscreens for product lines such as Bain de Soleil, Yves St Laurent and Charles of the Ritz.
Expert increased his understanding of the science involved in cosmetics through his graduate training and continuing education. He himself now instructs for both the Society of Cosmetic Chemists in their Continuuing Education Program as well as in the Graduate Masters program in Cosmetic Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Expert's career extended into the raw material and cosmetic ingredient side of the business as Director of Research and Development at a prominent cosmetic ingredient supplier utilizing his experience and expertise to guide applications development and technical support to sales and marketing with presentations, articles and direct customer contact. Key areas of concentration included the inorganic sunscreen active Titanium Dioxide, botanicals and natural ingredients, skin care actives and cosmetic proteins.
