Expert is the founder of an independent marine surveying business operating throughout the Maltese Islands, Europe and the Middle East. The company delivers a wide range of services such as pre-purchase condition and insurance surveys, damage assessment, a variety of Non Destructive Tests, refit consultation and Regulatory Surveys. They have long standing knowledge and experience of many types of vessel, from small commercial fishing vessels to large privately owned superyachts. They use state of the art equipment such as moisture meters for GRP and wooden hulls, ultrasound thickness gauges for steel or aluminium structures and infra-red cameras for machinery and leak testing. After the survey inspection a detailed written report is produced for the client giving a comprehensive account of any defects, along with suggested measures for rectification. They are Examiners for the MCA Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels and they offer consultancy on the MCA Large Yacht Code (for vessels over 24 metres Load Line length). As Appointed Tonnage Surveyors for the UK, Eire and the Red Ensign group Registers of Shipping they can assist with registration under the British and Irish Flags. Professional Institution memberships include the YDSA, MECAL and the IIMS. They operate under the Code of Practice for Surveyors. They carry full Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance for the protection of their clients and undertake regular Continuous Professional Development.
