Expert was a member of the original design team for the standard mold bottle (SMB) used within the Canadian brewing industry. Expert chaired the SMB technical committee for many years.

These designs have ranged from modifying existing packaging equipment to work with new materials, to the installation of new packaging lines. Expert has managed the development of new packaging and decorating equipment, inspection systems, and both primary and secondary package designs. He is experience in the design of both refillable bottle filling operations, and non-refillable bottle and can filling operations.

Expert was the Manager of Packaging, Cooling, and Dispense Equipment Development for the North American operation of a major
international brewing company. His department managed all stages in the development of a new package, ranging from concept
feasibility studies through development, implementation and post launch project evaluations. While in R&D Expert helped develop, and then managed all packaging projects, a standardized process for all decision requests that were
made to upper management. The decision request was developed to provide a standard format when presenting the risks and benefits
of proceeding to the next milestone. Expert has modified package designs for both domestic and imported beer brands to ensure they met various Liquor Board regulations
within Canada and the USA. Expert lead various developmental projects to optimize the washing, filling, pasteurization, decoration, and
secondary packaging operations.

Expert developed several new packaging designs, and sourced / developed the necessary equipment to complete these installations.Expert was one of the original 4-member committee that developed and negotiated the agreement on a standard Canadian brewing industry returnable bottle. For several years Expert was the chair of the Technical Committee to the Standard Mould Bottle Agreement for the Brewer's Association of Canada (BAC). Over his career for Expert has audited several packaging suppliers to evaluate their manufacturing and product development capabilities. He has negotiated exclusive agreements for new designs in packaging materials, as well as royalty agreements for technical projects. Expert has successfully managed a variety of projects, ranging from completely new package introductions to optimizing existing package designs between multiple packaging operations.

This approach ultimately became the standard for the Engineering Department.
