Summary of Expertise:

Listed with other top experts in:

Expert was the Senior Director Technology for CT at a global biomedical technology company. He was responsible for setting CT's Technology Roadmap, oversaw a global research team of 16 individuals, controlled and allocated the CTO advanced development budget, developed and taught courses on the fundamentals (Mathematics and Physics) of Computed Tomography.

As the Director for Oncology Engineering, he directed the Oncology Engineering team of twenty individuals to develop an advanced geometric radiation treatment planning workstation.

As a Project Leader he developed a CT scanner specifically suited for use in oncology radiation treatment planning. He was responsible for the overall hardware and software system design and management of the budget and project in compliance with FDA Quality System Regulations.

As Director of Imaging Technology at Center For Light Microscope Imaging and Biotechnology at a leading research university, Expert directed a team of six scientists and engineers in the development of the Automated Interactive Microscope(AIM). AIM is new generation computerized robotic light microscope capable of high speed capture, display and analysis of five dimensional transmitted and fluoresence light images of living cells and tissues.

As Vice President, Research and Development for a bio-imaging research company, Expert directed the technical and marketing activities of a team of 18 scientists and engineers to perform contract research and imaging system development. Primary areas of skill included: industrial non-destructive testing, digital x-ray imaging, computed tomography, backscatter imaging, acoustical microscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging. He developed methods and tools to quickly generate systems designs for X-ray CT and digital radiography products.

As a Consultant and Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, at a leading medical research and teaching university, Expert directed a group of 6 engineers to develop new methods to operator interactively display and quantitatively analyze stack of CT images. Obtained 100% extramural funding for this research effort. He developed a workstation to facilitate the image analysis described above. This involved complete hardware and software system design and implementation. He developed a Varifocal mirror based truly 3-D display system. He was a member of the Education Committee of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Graduate School of Medicine. He participated in the definition, design, and building of the Dynamic Spatial Reconstructor. He developed the concept and generated the first numerical projection displays of 3-D CT images. Also, first demonstrated the related concepts of numerical tissue dissolution and dissection. Numerical projection is now often referred to as "volume rendering."
