Expert has spent over 36 years in the satellite communications industry, working with communications satellites and the communications networks they support. He has been a communications technician at satellite teleports, a field manager managing satellite communications operations, and a principal engineer in the terrestrial systems engineering group at SES Americom.
He has extensive experience in designing, evaluating, and testing satellite communications systems, including small terminal systems using VSAT antennas, and larger systems using satellite earth station and teleport facilities with medium to large satellite antennas. His expertise includes satellite link analysis, and preparing engineering diagrams and technical documentation.
Accomplishments include:
* He led engineering team in design, development, and integration of a super head end to acquire video programming from satellites, re-encode the video, and deliver IPTV to telephone companies and other companies wanting to deliver video over IP networks to subscribers. Efforts resulted in a new product, IP Prime, and a new company division.
* He collaborated with team of engineers on a new product, Mobile Maritime Broadband, that provides internet connectivity and voice over IP by satellite to marine locations.
* He designed new satellite communications package that allows TV broadcasters to extend the reach of their base broadcast transmitters; launched by SES Americom as SignalSat.
* He designed engineering solution to correct audio problem with a statewide videoconferencing network involving 37 sites.
* He directed team of 5 technicians to implement design changes to 37 sites and complete upgrade in 10 days with no interruptions to the conference schedule.
* He managed a 3 month project to monitor a customer's satellite downlink to solve a longstanding interference problem.
* He enabled the consistent delivery of high availability and customer satisfaction through efficient scheduling while reducing overtime and minimizing operational costs.
* Ultimately, he recognized with with 4 “A-Team” awards, 7 “Recognition of Excellence” awards, and 3 management cash awards. |
