Since 1998, Expert has worked exclusively in all aspects of new analytical instrument development exclusively for the detection of trace quantities of explosives, narcotics and chemical agents for law enforcement and homeland security. He worked successfully with a wide variety of other professionals as a team member. He liaisoned between the customer/user and the members of the development team. The ion mobility spectrometer is currently the chosen method for trace detection of contraband by homeland security. He is currently the director of a sensor group developing a new detection technology based on microcantilevers. He is responsible for all aspects of the development and research for this development task It is considered a disruptive technology.
