Expert is a world expert in evaluation of cell-specific cytokines in humans. She has evaluated and published primary research on the cytokine network in healthy individuals at various ages and also in a wide variety of disease states, including sepsis, bloodstream infections, HIV infection, malaria, and malnutrition.

Expert has published primary research concerning a number of diseases, including but not limited to HIV infection, HTLV, Kawasaki disease, bloodstream infections, malaria, parvovirus infection, Kaposi sarcoma, malnutrition, and vitamin A deficiency.
