Expert has been interested in clinical medicine throughout his career. He is a Board certified internist, with an active interest in both patient care and research activities. After completing medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC, he undertook internal medicine training at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is currently pursuing a subspecialty fellowship in cardiovascular diseases, which has afforded him the opportunity to gain expertise in both preventative as well as therapeutic aspects of cardiology. As a member of the Vascular Biology Working Group, he has been involved in regional meetings highlighting the need for aggressive lipid and cardiac risk factor management in high risk populations. Expert has had much experience in various clinical settings, from private hospital, to the County, to the VA. In addition, he has pursued research in atherosclerosis, which has been published. His other interests include optimum delivery of health care through internet-based resources. Current projects involve the study of bleeding complications in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention as well as the role of ACE inhibitors in halting progression of atherosclerosis assessed via electron beam CT (EBCT).
