Bernoulli theorem expert |
Expert has over 35 years of experience in applied aerodynamics and fluid dynamics. He has carried out a wide range of research studies in the area, including circulation control, boundary layer control to delay flow separation, studies of wind-induced snow and sand movement, wind-damage mechanisms for loose-laid roofing systems. He has also dedicated much effort to studying the effects of surface roughness on turbulent boundary behaviour, aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft wings and turbomachinery blading, centrifugal fan aerodynamics and performance, wind-penetration of cold-weather clothing and in-flight icing of aircraft. Expert has published over 100 technical papers on applied aerodynamics topics. In addition, he has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses involving applied aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and has done consulting work on problems such as wind-turbine aerodynamics, ship and submarine hydrodynamics and dynamics, slurry pump design, roofing system failure prediction and wind-tunnel design. |

fluid mechanics modeling expert
wind-tunnel testing expert |
Expert has wide ranging experience in aerodynamics and fluid mechanics modeling using experimental and analytical approaches. He has conducted extensive wind tunnel testing on flow phenomena with aeronautical applications, including circulation control, high-lift aerodynamics, wall jet flows and flows over rough surfaces. He has also contributed to the development of improved techniques for modeling of aerodynamic effects involved in snow drifting and wind-damage of roofing systems. Currently, he is at the forefront of efforts to establish valid modeling methods for glaze icing on aircraft. He has planned and conducted a number of novel wind-tunnel tests, including tests of the behaviour in wind of the retractable roof of the Montreal Olympic Stadium, of loose-laid roof insulation systems, and of icing with reduced surface tension of the spray water. |

Over a period of 15 years [1980-1995], Expert was a consultant to GasTOPS Ltd., Ottawa, Canada, on sludge pumping, wind-turbine aerodynamics, submarine dynamics and hydrodynamics, and other problems.
During the period 1974 to 1986, Expert was a consultant to Dow Chemical Ltd., on wind-tunnel testing of loose-laid roofing systems in the National Research Council of Canada 9mx9m wind tunnel. He was responsible for planning and executing the tests, as well as for data reduction, interpretation and reporting.
He consulted for Regie des Installations Olympiques (Montreal) on wind-tunnel testing of a proposed retractable fabric roof for the Montreal Olympic Stadium. Expert was responsible for the planning and execution of the tests and for interpretation and reporting of the results. The work was done circa 1980 in the National Research Council of Canada 9mx9m wind tunnel.
Recently, he advised DRS Technologies, Ottawa, Canada, on issues relating to the flight dynamics of a deployable flight incident recorder.
