Reactions of interest include fluid cracking of hydrocarbons, hydrocracking, desulfurization, acid/base catalyzed reactions, carbonylation, and isomerization of hydrocarbons over metal oxide. |

Expert developed a new catalyst system for coupling aromatics using Pd and a very strong acid. This technology is currently before the U.S. Patent office. Expert's group has been awarded a patent (U.S. 5,679,867) for a novel solid acid catalyst for toluene cabonylation. Additionally, he has developed an analytical technique based on NMR to measure the water content of triflic acid at levels less than 1 wt% H2O in acid. |
