He is regarded by both DuPont and Allied-Signal as the national expert on the subject.

Expert has an in-depth understanding of the process that is typically used in manufacturing bags of many different shapes and sizes. The focal point of his experience lies in heat sealing any and all of the fluorocarbon films. He also has above-average knowledge in other types of heat sealing techniques.

Although he is not a chemist, Expert has a well-developed understanding of the properties of fluorocarbon films, and, more importantly, how to specify each material for a specific end-use. These materials include Teflon PTFE, FEP, PFA, Tefzel, Halar E-CTFE, Aclar PCTFE, Tedlar PVF, and modified PTFE. He has also worked with Kapton polyimide, Ultem polyetherimide, PES, PEEK, and polyethylene.

Expert has a well-balanced grasp of how the fluorocarbon plastics are available. He is familiar with several of these materials, including films, tubing, coated fabrics, tapes, coatings, laminates, and injection-molded parts. He also has a general understanding of which companies make these different products.

Expert is extremely familiar with the process of applying Teflon coating, and knows how to specify the materials. However, he is not currently up-to-date on all of the latest products.

|
Expert has designed and built many unique bags for oddball applications where the properties of the fluorocarbon films are required. Some of his designs are used in the space program. Although he has no firsthand knowledge of automatic bag making equipment, he understands their fundamentals.
