Expert is a consultant in the field of aerospace materials and structures, specializing in the engineering and manufacturing aspects of advanced composite materials. He was responsible for composite hardware development at Boeing from the mid-1960s. He worked with the manufacturing processes for the composite wing of the USAF's B-2 aircraft from 1980 to 1992. He was also responsible for the A-6 and V-22 aircraft with regard to issues involving composite manufacturing, engineering, and qualification. As an active consultant in this area, Expert is knowledgeable of autoclave, vacuum-bagging, machining, drilling, and fastening processes of composites. Most recently, he has been a consultant to Boeing's JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) program. |

He was responsible for stress, loads and dynamics, and materials and process organizations, and over 200 engineers at the program's peak. While on temporary assignment with B-2 Manufacturing, Expert led multi-discipline task groups that solved program-level problems in fuel tank sealing, fastener installation, factory defect reduction, and lightning protection of composites. |
