BRASS PROCESS METALLURGY; COPPER PROCESS METALLURGY; METAL FOUNDRY; METAL CASTING. Expert has expertise in nonferrous metal processing, including casting into permanent molds and controlling the solidification rate. He has worked in several hundred metal foundries and metal shops in the United States and 23 other countries. He has invented two master alloys in Germany which are commercially sold in Europe as grain refiners for brass.

BRASS CASTING; BRASS MELTING; BRASS HEAT TREATMENT. Expert was Vice President of Research and Development for 10 years at a USA major brass works. He has consulted in 26 countries on brass processing for ITT and Frederick Grohe (since 1975) and for his own company (since 1983).

PERMANENT MOLD PROCESS; SAND CASTING PROCESS; NONFERROUS METAL; COPPER ALLOY. Currently, Expert provides consultation to nonferrous sand foundries in South America, Mexico, and the United States to replace their sand foundry process with the permanent mold process with a savings in process scrap. He has developed a permanent mold coating mixture for copper alloys that is being used by most of the permanent mold foundries in Europe and the United States.

GRAIN REFINEMENT OF BRASS. Expert invented Desofin(tm), an additive for grain refining and deoxydation of yellow brass. It is the only commercial brass grain refiner. Only 200 grams of Desofin per metric ton of brass is needed for the refinement process. Desofin is recommended for permanent mold casting (both gravity and low and high pressure die casting). It is also recommended for sand and shell molding. The product has also been used to lower the casting temperature and increase the castability and fluidity of aluminum bronze, red brass, and tin bronze.

Alloy treated with the product will have the following attributes: * improved fluidity of the metal to be cast * lower casting temperatures are possible depending on the size of the past to be cast and the type of mold used. Generally between 940 and 980 degrees C for Be-Cu molds. Lower temperatures are possible with iron or steel molds * better castability * cracking tendencies of the parts to be cast are greatly reduced and most often cracks are eliminated * sinks are greatly reduced * Pb is more uniformly distrubuted in the fine grain structure.

METAL EXTRUSION; METAL ROLLING; METAL DRAWING; BRONZE. Expert's expertise encompasses metal extruding, rolling, and drawing, as well as liquid metal handling, heat treatment, annealing, and metallurgy process automation. He has worked with copper and copper alloys, such as brasses and bronzes and aluminum alloys.

  • Consulting for the largest non ferrous foundy in South America at Sao Paulo and largest manufacturer of faucets. Duritex purchased a license to use his invention of a brass grain refiner called Desofin.
  • Consulting for the Kohler Brass faucet company from 1983 to the present time and when he began they had no success in their attempt for seven years trials whatsoever. They bought a license for his Desofin and have used his mold coatting graphite called i 75L until today and now openly state that they have a $600 million business by following his procedure. He still furnishes Kohler,Wi, Kohler Beijing and Kohler Nanchang the graphite mix and grain refiner.
  • He has his own company and sells his product world wide and consults free when they have a metallurgical problem in India or Turkey for example via email.
