MICROWAVE POWER TECHNOLOGY. Expert spent over 20 years in the field of developing equipment and exploring applications in heat transfer using electromagnetic energy. This contributed to the creation of the world's first home oven manufacturer, Amana, and to the world's leading enterprise in industrial applications. Expert has a wide acquaintance with other scholars and specialists since he was Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Microwave Power. He has a particular interest in material-microwave interactions. MATERIALS SCIENCE. With technical training in metallurgy, Expert became a specialist in the utilization of materials science and technology in a cross-disciplinary way. Thus, new materials and new fabrication techniques he introduced often solved electronic component or medical device problems as well as problems in other industries. MAGNETICS. Expert led development of the world's first commercially available rare earth (samarium cobalt) magnet. He is skilled in permanent magnet properties and methods of employing them. He knows vendors and networks with field design specialists. HEAT TRANSFER. Expert applies knowledge of convection, conduction, radiation, microwave, and dielectric heating to a wide variety of applications in injecting or extracting heat in many industries. Knowledge of material properties, thermodynamics, and microwave techniques are Expert's specialties. He maintains that economic considerations are always a major factor in the selection of approaches to a problem. VACUUM TECHNOLOGY; VACUUM EQUIPMENT. Expert has extensive experience in the development and fabrication of vacuum equipment and devices. His specialties in this area include metal-to-glass or ceramic seals, degassing, electron emission, and secondary emission. He is also familiar with vacuum tubes at all powers and frequencies. TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PROCESS; TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT. Much of Expert's career has been devoted to the management of technical innovation in industry. He wrote a book for the American Management Association on how to accomplish profitable innovation and how to do it efficiently. INVENTION UPON DEMAND; NEW PRODUCTS; NEW PROCESSES. Expert can provide both low technology and high technology inventions and solutions to problems identified by clients, whether these are for new products, new features for existing products, or new or improved processes. He is a member of a four-person consortium (all Teltech experts) whose expertise covers a wide range of technologies including materials, mathematical problem solving, electronics, optics, thin films, medical devices, superconductors, and instrumentation. Together they have over 90 patents and nearly 50 products licensed.
