Listed with other top experts in: |
For over 25 years, Expert has been involved in the inorganic and organometallic chemistry of the transition elements. He has conducted research projects involving the chemistry of over half of the transition metals, and is very familiar with the chemistry of the common reagents, as well as the less common intermediates. In addition, he has taught inorganic chemistry for over 20 years and has a strong knowledge of the literature of these materials.
Expert's primary area of research is organometallic chemistry, with a strong emphasis in cyclopentadienyl metal chemistry. He has been responsible for contributions in substituent effects, synthesis and chemistry of chiral compounds, bimetallic compounds, metal basicity, and reductive elimination of dihydrogen from bimetallic compounds. He also serves as referee for all major journals in this field, and for NSF, PRF, DOE, and other funding agencies.
Expert has been involved in research projects to develop the chemistry of organotin antifouling paints. As a result of this work, he is very familiar with the chemistry and environmental effects of tin and its compounds.
Expert has extensive experience in the synthesis and handling of thallium reagents. These toxic materials are excellent reagents for many syntheses, but require more than average caution and care in their handling.
Expert's work on these materials has been primarily focused on their use as ligands on metal complexes. He also has substantial experience in organophosphorous and organoarsenic chemistry, having prepared many common and unusual ligands for his work.
Expert has been involved in the synthesis of organometallic derivatives of chromium, tungsten, and copper as precursors for thin metal films. In addition, OMCVD reagents of copper, gold, and tungsten are of considerable importance in the semiconductor industry.
Expert has consulted on projects involving organotin anti-fouling paints, Ziegler-Natta catalysis, rhodium chemistry and catalysis, engine exhaust emissions, and custom organic synthesis. He has expertise in the handling and synthesis of a broad range of organometallic compounds by conventional, photochemical, and high-pressure routes. In addition, he has a broad knowledge of modern spectroscopy and its application to the analysis of reactions and products.
Expert is familiar with organic chemistry in the areas of aldehydes, ketones, and esters. He is well-versed in carbocation chemistry and polymer modification chemistry, and is familiar with aromatic hydrocarbons, crown ether chemistry, organic and inorganic acids, and ethylene oxide
Expert has recently undertaken projects in the synthesis of chiral organometallic compounds, and has pioneered the use of chiral HPLC to resolve mixtures of these compounds. His primary research areas include the separation of chiral catalytic compounds.
