DIE CASTING; ZINC AND ALUMINUM DIE CASTING. Expert has over 40 years of experience in producing zinc and aluminum die castings. He is highly knowledgeable in optimizing part design, die design and construction, die casting alloys, process and quality control, and the production of high quality parts within cost estimate, while maximizing die life. He also teaches courses in die casting. Expert helped to produce the ANSI B152.1 die casting machine safety standards and serves as an expert witness in personal injury cases. ZINC DIE CASTING ALLOY; ALUMINUM DIE CASTING ALLOY. As a member of ASTM B2, B6, and B7 committees, Expert has helped develop and approve zinc alloys and has developed specifications for aluminum die casting alloys. DIE CASTING DIE. Expert has served as head of engineering departments for more than 24 years. He has been responsible for the design and construction of all die cast tooling, die steels, and heat treatments. He has worked with customers, including automotive, to specify casting alloy, tolerances, quality, and other critical needs to supply their requirements within cost estimates. He is currently working on programs to improve die steels and optimize heat treating to extend die life. HEAT TREATMENT PROCESS. Expert has helped develop heat treatments for die steels and has specified heat treatments for hundreds of dies including hardening, drawing down, and post heat treatments. He is involved in the latest research for further improvement in die life. MARAGING STEEL; ALUMINUM DIE CASTING. Expert helped to introduce a special grade of maraging steel to the U.S. market. Included was the need to develop brochures, construction of die cast dies, and the production of aluminum die castings. He is very well versed on the advantages and concerns of maraging steel in design, machining, construction, heat treatment, and application in the die casting industry. DIE STEEL. For over 30 years, Expert has been on the Die Steel Committee for North American Die Casting Institute. He has developed specifications for H-13 steel and specifies proper steels for die casting dies. Currently he is doing research on improving die steels to die cast aluminum. DIE STEELS FOR METAL CASTING. Expert helped to produce the standard for premium grade H-13 steel. He has also worked extensively with Maraging steel, H-11 and other hot work steels. He has extensive experience in all phases of various heat treatments to improve performance and die life.

In 1975, Expert received the Nysellius Award for helping to develop the Sanders Pressure Compensated Shot Valve, and he was the 1970 recipient of the Austin T. Lilligren Award.
