COMPUTER-BASED SIMULATION PROCESS. Expert has managed or contributed technically to various analog, digital, custom hardware, and human-in-the-loop simulations for over thirty years. His systems engineering and concept optimization experience includes: eye-directed manual control simulations; air-to-surface automated attack modeling simulations; radar multipath modeling for ship defense against anti-ship missiles; hyper velocity missile guidance simulations; terrain-following algorithm simulations; motion depiction symbology evaluations; DRAGON missile trainer simulation contract; optimal control for anti-ICBM missile guidance; and adaptive control of command to line of sight missiles. EYE TRACKER. Lamar developed a TV-based eye tracker and gyro-based helmet sight human-in-the-loop simulation hardware. He successfully integrated and used this system in an F-16-based fighter aircraft research simulator to demonstrate ultra-fast acquisition of multiple targets. HELMET SIGHT SYSTEM; SIGHT DEVICE; SIGHTING SYSTEM. Lamar integrated and demonstrated in helicopter flight tests a helmet motion directed correlation tracker stabilized gimbal system. He also invented and demonstrated a gyro stabilized helmet sight. MATHEMATICAL MODEL. Lamar has many years of experience with using mathematical modeling as the key feature of the system design process. HUMAN-MACHINE SYSTEMS. Lamar has established requirements, developed hardware and software concepts, and built and tested prototypes of human-machine systems throughout his career. VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEMS. Lamar designed and demonstrated various systems in which the operator did not have a real view of the system to be controlled, but had to rely on artificial symbols and cues. Quick response interaction with automatic systems is key to the success of such systems. TARGET ACQUISITION. Lamar has experience finding targets and logging them into a database for reconnaissance or fire control purposes. He has used helmet sights, eye trackers, and automatic target trackers to reduce operator workload, shorten acquisition timelines, and enhance performance.
