FAILURE ANALYSIS; FORENSIC SCIENCE. Expert's second major activity over the past 40 years has been failure analysis. He used it to provide the basis for engineering changes, to effect product improvements, and for industrial intelligence purposes. Since becoming self-employed, this activity has taken a forensic turn. His broad knowledge of metallic engineering materials and manufacturing processes, along with a good understanding of mechanical engineering, has proved very helpful. FIREARMS. Expert worked as an engineer on military firearms for six years. He is knowledgeable of the design, construction, and use of firearms. He has had a life-long personal interest in firearms and shooting.
