Summary of Expertise:
Listed with other top experts in: |
Expert has expertise with the design and development of high-precision photometric systems used principally in blood analysis. He has performed photometric precision calculations, signal-to-noise analysis, and system error budgeting allocations. In his role as a Senior Research Fellow in the Applied Research Group, he managed personnel in developing novel, state-of-the-art photodiode array/spectral grating and photo counting modules for the company's (Miles Inc.) analyzers. As an independent consultant he has given technical guidance to other firms engaged in analytical instrumentation in the areas described above. He also aided in the design and provided a comprehensive precision analysis of the electro-optic front end used in a blood coagulation analyzer.
Expert has analyzed and tested the performance of low-light-level detectors such as silicon detectors, charge-coupled devices, photomultipliers, and photon counters. He applied these sub-systems to sensitive detection systems. This technology is used in spectroscopy (near UV and visible wavelengths) as well as fluorescence and luminescence instrumentation employed in the chemistry and immunoassay fields.
During his 40 year career, Expert has worked extensively with the design and development of detection modules and systems used in blood assay analyzers. This experience also includes hardware design and development along with pre-production support.
Expert has been a major contributor to the design and development of electro-optics systems used in analytical chemical analyzers. These systems comprised light sources, detectors, fiber optics, wavelength dispersing elements, signal conditioners, and A/D converters. The optical techniques that Expert is familiar with include absorption spectroscopy and scatter measurements. He holds 18 patents in this area.
Expert has developed major hardware modules that play integral roles in complex, computer-controlled chemical analyzers. The subsystems he worked with include electro-optical, mechanical, chemical, and micro-hydraulic modules with distributed computer processors under central computer control. He worked on the first major sequential, multiple computer-controlled analyzer (SMAC).
