Expert recently worked with integrating the component operations of a combined cycle system. This included both the "power island" and the balance of plant (BOP). The project also included defining the start-up/operation/shut-down procedures and the automation logic for accomplishing them. His work is now being applied to a number of power plants operating in various parts of the world.

Expert is experienced in coal gasification from the standpoint of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) systems. He made conceptual designs for IGCCs using a number of coal gasification processes. He then evaluated these from both a technical and economic standpoint. Concurrently, he served as development project manager to develop a modified gas turbine to operate in an IGCC. He demonstrated successful operations of full scale combustors using very low Btu coal gas.

Expert developed both specific fluidic devices as well as systems incorporating them. His work involved both liquid and gas/air devices. From his work in fluidics, he was issued 38 U.S. patents (solo and joint) and published approximately 20 technical papers in this field.

Expert led a group which provided company-wide support in the field of fluid controls. This included hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluidic control systems and components.
