He is a member of the Ultrasound Committee of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, AIUM, ASA, IOA (UK), AAAS, and the American Institute of Engineering in Medicine and Biology.

Awards/Recognition
Expert was awarded the W.J. Fry Memorial Award and the Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award
of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He received the Silver Medal of the Acoustical
Society of America, the Medal of Special Merit of the Acoustical Society of Japan, and is an
Honorary Member of the Japan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine. He received the IEEE
Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society Career Achievement Award in 1995 and the IEEE
Edison Medal in 1996.
