FRACTURE MECHANICS. Expert has devoted most of his professional career in research and development of fracture mechanics concepts, as well as the application of these concepts to industrial products such as aerospace structure, nuclear power plants, chemical and oil plants, and automobiles. DYNAMIC FRACTURE MECHANICS. For 20 years, Expert has been working in this field, and has pioneered certain concepts frequently used in it. His expertise includes rapid crack propagation, crack curving and branching, and crack arrest in structural materials such as airplane fuselage, ship hull, storage tanks, and gas and oil transmission pipelines. DYNAMIC FRACTURE OF STRUCTURAL MATERIALS. Expert has been working in dynamic fracture mechanics since its inception in the early 1960s. He is particularly interested in the application of dynamic fracture mechanics for designing crack arresters in airplane fuselages, nuclear power plants, oil and gas transmission lines, and civil structures. FRACTURE OF BRITTLE MATERIAL; CONCRETE FAILURE ANALYSIS; CERAMIC FAILURE ANALYSIS. Expert has been working in static and dynamic fracture of concrete, ceramics, and ceramic composites for the past 10 years. In particular, his research interest lies in testing these materials for various fracture parameters, as well as designing these engineered materials to resist fracture and rapid crack propagation.
