SOLDERING; ELECTROLESS PLATING PROCESS; DIELECTRIC FILMS. He is experienced with soldering, electro and electroless plating, IR and forced air curing, dielectric films, metallization, encapsulations, membrane keyboards, semiconductor devices (diodes, transistors), LCDs, passive components (resistors, capacitors), connectors, surface mount technology, and hybrid microelectronics. He has also been involved in the applications of superconductors in electronic devices.

ELECTRONIC PACKAGING. Expert is knowledgeable of electronic packaging, having developed many of the field's advanced techniques. He has worked at all levels of electronic packaging, from individual components to entire systems, commerical and military. Because of marketing skills and his technical knowledge, Expert organized the International Society for Electronic Packaging (IEPS).

MATERIAL SELECTION. Frequently called upon to find solutions or markets for obscure materials, Expert can answer a wide variety of questions related to material selection. He gave a paper at the International Metals Congress on the potential for superconductivity long before it became popular. He is especially involved in finding ways to use a new material (or process) by creating products to showcase it. Expert maintains that proper material selection will result in a satisfactory product.

THICK FILM TECHNOLOGY. Expert has devoted many years to cermet and polymer thick films. He has designed circuits and equipment, developed special formulas, and received several special awards related to thick film technology.

DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY; FLAT-PANEL DISPLAYS. Involved with many display technologies over the years, Expert has particular expertise in flat panel displays. The Society for Information Display recognized his contributions by awarding Expert a Life Membership.

GLASS TECHNOLOGY; GLASS-TO-METAL SEAL. Expert has formulated and manufactured special glasses. He established a company for making glass-to-metal seals and well as other products. He managed glass blowing operations and designed several test procedures for glass and glass products. He conducted research in glass-to-light metal seals.

PLASTICS AND POLYMERS; PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING. As chairman of the ASTM group on Plastics for Electronics, Expert is very familiar with plastics and polymers. He has designed many molds as well as designed and built two molding machines. In addition, he has given papers and has contributed to many military specifications on this topic.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY. Expert did graduate work at MIT in electrochemistry and continues to do research and development work in this area.
