ELECTRICAL MACHINERY DESIGN, MODELING & CONTROL. Expert has spent his career working with electrical machines and the associated aspects of design, transient behavior, applications, modeling, control, and analysis. ALTERNATING-CURRENT (AC) MOTOR DRIVES; AC VARIABLE-FREQUENCY. Expert has extensive experience in the analysis and design of AC variable frequency motor drives. He is particularly concerned with the performance of AC motors when used with variable frequency power electronic equipment including steady-state and transient behavior motor control issues such as field orientation and the design of such machines. He is interested in aspects such as vector control, torque pulsations, maximum efficiency control, harmonics, and heating. INDUCTION MOTOR; PERMANENT MAGNET; SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR; RELUCTANCE MOTOR. Expert's expertise with AC motors includes induction motors, permanent magnet motors, synchronous reluctance motors, and switched reluctance motors. He is also knowledgeable in the areas of AC synchronous generators and AC induction generators. During his employment with General Electric, Expert worked on state of the art AC motor drives for applications ranging from transit cars to excavators.
