ADHESIVE FORMULATION TECHNOLOGY; ADHESIVE APPLICATION. With over 30 years experience in both theoretical and applied adhesion science, Expert has expertise on formulations of commercial pressure-sensitive rubber-based adhesives, both solvent and hot melt. He is familiar with the synthesis and formulation of acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives, both solvent and latex. Over the years, he has been awarded 17 patents in all aspects of adhesion science. PRESSURE-SENSITIVE TAPE; PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE. Expert was responsible for designing and manufacturing a broad range of industrial and medical pressure-sensitive tapes and labels consisting of a variety of backing materials including cloth, polymer, and composite construction. He has overseen the manufacture of pressure-sensitive tapes using calendering and extrusion technologies. He has experience with spreadline technology for solvent-based adhesives and slitting technology to yield a final, stable roll of tape. ADHESIVE SELECTION; ADHESIVE TAPE. From his extensive background working with adhesive-related problems, Expert can help with questions on adhesive selection. He was responsible for pressure-sensitive tape products used in a multitude of business and industries including automotive, aerospace, defense, asbestos abatement, commercial airlines, and many others. He was instrumental in developing "high-temperature" wire harness tapes for use in automotive engine compartments as well as a tape used in the silk screen printing process. METAL-TO-PLASTIC ADHESION. Expert pioneered metal-to-plastic bonding chemistries and associated technology. He invented the CASING (crosslinking by activated species of inert gases) technique which won him a share of the 1966 American Chemical Society Union Carbide Chemicals Award. COATED PIPE; PROTECTIVE COATING MATERIAL; POLYMER COATING MATERIAL. Expert designed an in-plant, hot-applied pipe coating system called "Synergy," which allows for a pipe's outer wrap to be heat fused into an impervious coating that offers superior corrosion and mechanical protection. He also designed the multi-layered composite alloy coating that protects steel pipelines transmitting water, oil, or gas. In addition, he developed the technology used to coat optical fibers, which has become the industry standard. POLYMER SURFACE CHEMISTRY. Expert is an expert in surface chemical analysis of polymers and polymer blends and the characterization of modified polymer surfaces required for adhesive bonding. POLYMER BLENDING. Expert was responsible for the design and manufacture of polymer blends and compatible polymer structures.
