Expert has worked on both the space and earth segments of satellite communication systems. He was one of the Technical Directors for the Applications Technology Satellite-6 system built for NASA, and has done consulting relative to transponder problems and capabilities, intermodulation, and voice circuit multiplication techniques. He has designed protection shields for the operation of satellite earth stations in the presence of microwave radio relay systems.

Expert has designed microwave transmission systems for use in a wide variety of applications, ranging from 900 MHz to 50 GHz. His work includes antennas, link budgets, error correction, and link reliability and performance.

Having received an amateur radio extra class operator's license, Expert gained expertise in operation on all amateur bands from 1.8 MHz through 47 GHz. He has operated most modes, including digital and slow- and fast-scan television. He has also used many of the amateur satellites, and has achieved moon bounce communications.

Familiar with the transmission, propagation, and reception of radio frequencies from 30 Hz to 50 GHz, Expert has designed and analyzed transmitters, antennas, and receivers for all representative portions of this part of the electromagnetic spectrum. His entire career has been devoted to aspects of radio technology, including antennas, radio propagation, and hardware.
