Expert's experience covers all the arc welding processes, with particular emphasis on welding procedures for high quality performance in the intended service. The first two publications listed later in his biography refer to this area of his expertise. Expert has expertise in the fabrication, welding, and corrosion resistance of nickel containing alloys. These alloys include austenitic stainless steels, nickel, nickel-chromium, nickel-copper, and copper-nickel alloys. He also has a working knowledge of all the metals used in today's process industries.

Expert has made many technical presentations on the proper procedures and techniques for the cleaning of post-fabrication alloy equipment. He has also written technical articles on the subject and performed field consulting. He has found that this is a subject of broad interest to metal producers, fabricators, and equipment users alike.
He has been active in ASME BPE (Bioprocessing Equipment) in Surface Finishing and Joining Com. as well as similar activities in 3-A Sanitary Standards addressing stainless steel issues.

Expert notes that nickel alloys are widely used to handle the highly corrosive conditions in FGD scrubbers. He has been involved in the development of special welding and fabrication techniques for sheet lining (wallpapering), roll bond clad, and solid plate used in FGD systems. Expert has shared his technical knowledge in this area through a series of workshops presented to fabricators, utilities, and architect engineers.

Over the years, he has acquired considerable experience in the selection of filler metals and development of the optimum welding procedure and has published articles on the subject. He has found that dissimilar metal welds are common to all industries, but are of particular importance in power plant boilers.

Expert has frequently become involved in corrosion problems in stainless steel, nickel alloys, and other metal weldments. His consulting experience includes advising clients on proper design, correct weld filler metal, and welding procedures. The forms of weld related corrosion which Expert has encountered include general, pitting, crevice, galvanic, and MIC.

Since welding and fabrication processes have a profound influence on corrosion performance, Expert has been frequently involved in stainless steel corrosion, particularly as influenced by welding, fabrication, and post-fabrication clean-up. In addition to laboratory and on-site problem solving, he has written articles and made technical presentations on the subject.

Expert has expertise in welding, manufacture, and repair of heat-resistant alloys for high temperature service.

Expert has applied his broad experience in welding nickel-base alloys to the welding of 9% nickel steel. The low temperature, cryogenic service requirements for 9% nickel steel requires special attention to the selection of filler metals and welding procedures. He has authored an article on welding stainless and 9% nickel steels for cryogenic vessels.

A significant portion of Expert's career has been involved in the welding of both solid solution and age-hardening nickel alloys. He became involved with the welding of these alloys for nuclear, chemical processing, marine, heat treating, aerospace, and other applications. His expertise is particularly strong in welding metallurgy associated with the arc welding processes.

Expert has had extensive involvement in Monel welding, both at a fabrication facility and at a welding product producer.
|

|
Expert's pipe welding experience has focused mainly on high quality piping systems of stainless steel and nickel base alloys for the nuclear, marine, power, food and chemical/petrochemical industries. He has emphasized automatic and manual root pass welding procedures to obtain welds of the highest integrity for demanding service applications. He is a member of AWS D10 Committee on Piping and Tubing and Chair of the Subcommittee on Welding Duplex Stainless Steel Piping and Tubing.
