Summary of Expertise:
Listed with other top experts in: |
Expert has a very broad polymer science background. He has a long industrial career spanning almost all aspects of polymer chemistry and science. He has taught graduate polymer chemistry courses for four universities (20 years of experience). He has served as a lecturer for SPE: Introduction to Polymer Science and Technology. He has experience in both free radical and step-growth polymerization.
Expert has extensive industrial experience with many forms of adhesives including epoxies, and phenolics, with emphasis on pressure-sensitive adhesives and structural acrylics. He has written chapters in Skeist's Handbook of Adhesives and in Wiley's Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Engineering. Expert has lectured for the Adhesive Society, and Plastic Fair. He has developed commercial products for fabric lamination, and hockey sticks. He is familiar with properties and modes of formation and modification.
Expert has a broad background in visible light curing as applied to dental materials, urethane diacrylate coatings and structural acrylic adhesives.
Expert has extensive industrial experience in acrylic polymerization involving pressure-sensitive and structural adhesives as well as many dental materials.
As part of teaching and lecturing, Expert has acquired extensive knowledge of adhesion theory. Some of this expertise is reflected in his publications.
Expert has applied his knowledge of adhesion theory and the physical requirements of an adhesive for a particular application to adhesive selection.
Expert has 15 years of broad industrial experience in research and development of all kinds of adhesive tapes. He has also gained knowledge of adhesive tapes thorough the preparation of review articles and lectures on this subject.
Expert has successfully developed commercial dental restoratives and cements (for Colgate Polmolive and MacroChem Corporation). His current consulting has led to a large number of current commercial products. Because of his arrangements with current clients, he may have to limit his consulting availability in this area.
With years of research and development experience in fiber spinning, Expert has hands-on and supervisory experience in melt spinning (nylons, polyester, polyolefins) and wet spinning (polyacrylonitrile).
Expert spent years developing flame-retardant treatments for fabrics. Determining the limiting oxygen index of various plastics required gaining insight into combustion mechanics and flame retardant chemicals.
Expert has a broad knowledge in free-radical polymerizations of a wide range of monomers and mixtures of monomers. This includes all techniques such as bulk solution and emulsion polymerizations. This long history began over 40 years ago with suspension polymerization of acrylonitrile (for fiber spinning) and went on continuously through dozens of monomers, initiators, and techniques.
With 40 years of industrial R & D and over 15 years of teaching experience, Expert has broad expertise in polymers and homopolymers.
Expert has extensive laboratory experience in polymer crosslinking and wrote the chapter on the subject in the first edition of Wiley's Encyclopedia. He has also lectured on this topic.
Expert has considerable experience in modification of cotton fabrics and wool fibers as well as many efforts industrially in plastics and adhesives. This is also part of the material he frequently lectures and teaches.
