Expert was the Chairman of the Tenth ISAAT Conference alongside the SME International Grinding Conference in Dearbon, MI, USA in 2007. He was also the chairman of the 4th SME International Grinding Conference in October of 1990. Expert is a Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Awards/Recognition
Expert has received a number of awards including the Sir Walter Puckey Prize from the Institution of Production Engineers in London, and the Lombard Award for outstanding technical contribution from Rolls-Royce Limited. In 1982, Expert was the Young Engineer of the Year for his work in Advanced Manufacturing Technology at General Electric's Aircraft Engine Group. In 1986, the Abrasive Engineering Society awarded Expert the Jim Bottorf award for his educational activities and dedicated commitment to research and development in the abrasive industry. He appears in the Who's Who in America.

Publications and Patents
Expert holds patents on fixture and sensor designs essential to the success of automated grinding operations as well as patents on a revolutionary new concept in grinding machine tool design. He has written numerous papers and articles in Creep-Feed Grinding, as well as a contribution to the 1982-83 Edition of McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. He wrote the Abrasive Machining Handbook for the grinding division of Korber AG in Germany and has presented many educational seminars on Creep-Feed Grinding.
