MACHINE DESIGN. Expert has designed machines to place chips on ceramic substrate and to place capacitors on these substrates and stake them in place. He has designed machines to pull plastic extrusions from the extruder and to cut the plastic to size. PRODUCT DESIGN. Expert has designed a number of consumer products. He has been involved in the design of many other products as well including an overhead crane X-ray, a mobile mammography machine, a small winder for fiberglass filament, a multi-coil copper winder, and a foil de-reeler. AUTOMATED MACHINE DESIGN; ASSEMBLY MACHINE. Expert has designed machines to assemble sliders to zippers, an automatic tennis ball tester, and an automatic disassembly machine to take apart assembly tooling. This work included the use of PLC as controls for the machines. REVERSE ENGINEERING. Often parts have to be made to repair or upgrade an existing device. Many military contracts require bidding on manufacture of equipment to old or incomplete drawings and specs. Doing this requires knowledge of how things are made and the ability to reverse engineer. Expert has done both of these as a maintenance engineer and in the military hardware field. COMPONENT SELECTION. The design of machinery requires many different parts and materials, both mechanical and electronic. The design of the machines and equipment shown above as well as many others has required the evaluation of many components from many vendors. COMPUTER-AIDED MACHINE DESIGN: AUTOCAD. Expert has experience using a CAD system (AutoCAD) and AutoCAD Mechanic Desktop solids modeling in the design of automated, medical, and other devices. Doing this has allowed him to produce more accurate drawings. |
