Summary of Expertise:
Listed with other top experts in: |
Expert is an expert in the application of numerous domestic (UL, CSA, FM, ISA) and international (IEC) standards and codes through both his membership in drafting committees and practical application experience. He has obtained product certification for preventing fire and shock hazards and explosion prevention, especially explosion-proof and intrinsically safe construction.
Expert has helped draft domestic and international standards for explosion-proof, intrinsically safe, and pressurization techniques, nonincendive systems, and installation of intrinsically safe systems.
Expert has extensive experience in intrinsic safety, and has worked with the design of electrical components so that under normal (or even abnormal) conditions, energy cannot be released to ignite a flammable atmosphere mixture (of gas, vapor, or dust).
Expert has been deeply involved in the generation of domestic and international standards for apparatuses that are used in explosion-endangered areas. For many years, he was responsible for obtaining certifications of electrical apparatus from certifying bodies such as Factory Mutual, PTB, EECS, SAA, and the Canadian Standards Association. Expert has consulted widely, assisting people to understand the requirements for hazardous locations, the interpretation of electrical codes, and how they can most economically meet the requirements without needlessly investing capital. His expertise also covers general purpose (i.e., non-hazardous) location approvals of electrical apparatuses by the UL, Factory Mutual, and Canadian Standards Association.
Expert has studied the hazard of explosion initiation by energy from lasers and optical fibers and measures to reduce the probability of ignition.
