-
Expert has visited many customers who have experienced problems in converting his company's packaging film. He has shown them how to increase machine speeds and efficiencies through correct film selection, adjustment of temperature profiles, and selection of correct design of sealing jaws. A specific example would be increasing production speeds at Pillsbury's Pie Crust packaging by 100% through modification of the heat seal layer resin and improved temperature control on their heaters.
-
He resolved an edge curl problem on PVC shrink tubing that was affecting dry cell battery production by changing the tubing manufacturing method. Tubing was being shock cooled in a cold water bath, resulting in external stresses in wall of tube. The die was modified to accept internal cooling mandrel.
-
Metallocene sealant layers were causing severe slip-stick problems on VFFS machines packaging precut salad, although ASTM tests showed Film-steel COF was 0.2. Found at higher sled loadings, COF was 0.5, so they increased slip levels, but also changed the antiblock type to one with some larger particles and less slip absorbent.
-
Expert has conducted many audits of polymer production facilities (e.g., Chevron, Amoco, Montel, DuPont, Exxon, etc.) to determine suitability for use. In doing so, he became familiar with polymer manufacturing methods and was able to delineate suppliers.
