Expert is an expert in plastic piping, having in-depth knowledge of polyethylene pipe, PE gas pipe, PVC pipe, ABS pipe, crosslinked-polyethylene (PEX) pipe, polybutylene pipe, and related fittings. As manager of the largest plastic pipe testing laboratory in the US, Expert is deeply involved with plastic component failure analysis and testing for physical properties or environmental stress cracking and material degradation. He has been an invited lecturer to the US DOT Transportation Safety Institute to speak on plastic gas pipe failures. Many of his programs involve long-term plastic stress analysis and service-life prediction.

He has been involved in several high profile patent infringement cases involving crystalline (isotactic) polypropylene, polyethylene copolymers, and polypropylene block copolymers, as well as several plastic product applications.

All of Expert's client programs require an extensive knowledge of the major thermoplastic materials, polymerization processes, formulation components (stabilizers, reinforcements, processing aids), structures (crystalline morphology, foams, composites, blends, alloys), processing methods, and applications. He keeps abreast on the latest technological advancements through in-depth literature reviews.

Expert's broad range of knowledge concerning the plastics industry touches on aspects of material properties, product manufacturing, and product testing. He has been involved with the design and development of plastic products for use in electrochemical processes as well as development and testing of ion-exchange membranes. He has also participated in developing electrically-conductive plastic moldings and coatings, sports products, and adhesives. Expert is also active with ASTM D35 on Geosynthetics, and has been involved with several client programs involving flexible PVC, HDPE, VLDPE, and elastomeric membrane liners, and was involved in the original NSF program to develop standards for these products.
