PESTICIDE FORMULATION; PESTICIDE ENCAPSULATION; CONTROLLED-RELEASE AGRICULTURAL CHEMICAL SYSTEM. The emphasis of Expert's work has been on developing new types of controlled-release and pesticide encapsulation products for improved activity and safety. He is also an authority on the use and selection of surfactants and other adjuvants for developing formulations such as emulsions, gels, dry flowables, emulsifiable concentrates, suspoemulsions, tablet granules, and microemulsions. He has extensive knowledge of the toxicology of pesticides, having his work reported in more than two dozen patents and various publications.

ELECTRICAL INSULATION MATERIAL; ELECTRICAL WIRE INSULATION; FOOD PACKAGING POLYMER. Expert has extensive experience with the polymers, elastomers, and coatings related to electrical insulation of wire and cable and with polymer films used in food packaging. He has worked on polyethylene and polypropylene modification, polyketones, and polyimides. He developed polymeric ultraviolet absorbers now used in intraocular lenses and photosensitized polymers and films. He can address questions on UV and thermal polymer stabilization. Expert's polymer-related work has been reported in 39 patents and publications.

LEGAL/PATENTING. Expert helped prepare and prosecute hundreds of patents. Part of this work involved developing creative strategies for avoiding infringement, overcoming patent office objections, and litigation of disputes. As an independent consultant, Expert has saved one small company from going out of business through a patent infringement law suit by finding a critical weakness in a competitive patent. He has also assisted attorneys in product liability cases.

MICROENCAPSULATION APPLICATION. Much of Expert's work at DuPont and in recent consultation has involved the development of novel and improved methods of microencapsulation of biologically active materials and assessing application possibilities. These include self-micro-encapsulated pesticides and bacteria as well as encapsulated pesticide granules and powders--all aimed at providing specific release rates. The objectives achieved include prolonged activity and improved mammalian safety.

Expert has been a member of Sigma Xi, the American Institute of Chemists, the American Chemical Society, and the Controlled-Release Society (of which he was nominated Governor).

Appointed by the Governor of Delaware to the Delaware Environmental Appeals Board

Expert has been an invited speaker on many occasions, including the Gordon Conferences and meetings of the American Chemical Society, the German Chemical Society, the Indian Chemical Society, and the International Society for Controlled-Release of Biological Materials. He won a fellowship from the National Institute of Public Health.

Expert has experience locating vendors pesticides, surfactants, pesticide adjuvants, polymeric additives, plasticizers, adhesives, coatings, and thermoplastic elastomers.
