LABORATORY COMPUTERIZED ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION DESIGN; CHEMICAL AUTOANALYSIS. Expert has spent much of his career developing systems or subsystems for devices accomplishing automated chemical analysis. He has experience in all phases of this process, from basic research into sensors to the transition to manufacturing under GMP control. ELECTROANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY; ELECTROCHEMICAL ANALYSIS; ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR. Most of the automated chemical analyzers Expert developed have used electroanalytical principles. He has experience in potentiometric, polarographic, and voltammetric analysis, and their applications to both research and the finished products. He also has some knowledge regarding CHEMFETs. POLAROGRAPHY; VOLTAMMETRY. Expert's expertise includes the application of both polarographic and voltammetric sensors for clinical analysis. He is proficient in oxygen sensors their unique applications to electrochemical immunoassay. ION-SELECTIVE ELECTRODES; POTENTIOMETRIC ANALYSIS. Expert has developed several sensors for clinical analysis using ion-selective electrodes, including sensors for sodium, potassium, and chloride ions. In each case, his work has included both the development and design of the sensor, along with the creation of manufacturing and test procedures. BIOMEDICAL CHEMICAL SENSOR; OXYGEN ANALYZER; ELECTROCHEMICAL OXYGEN SENSOR. Expert completed his master's thesis and doctoral dissertation on theoretical and experimental aspects of oxygen sensors. More recently, he developed a prototype of a fluorimetric oxygen sensor, and has continued to be involved in the field as a consultant. GLUCOSE SENSOR; BLOOD GLUCOSE MEASUREMENT. Expert has developed many versions of an electrochemical glucose sensor for clinical applications. His experience also includes the development of photometric assays for glucose, as well as a due diligence investigation on the prospects for a non-invasive glucose sensor. BLOOD GAS MONITORING EQUIPMENT. Over the course of his career, Expert has constructed sensors for all of the analytes in a blood gas system. He has developed several novel prototype schemes for calibration and quality control of blood gas equipment. CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. Expert's three degrees are all in chemical engineering. This discipline has been applied to transport phenomena analysis of all the beforementioned sensors, and has been used in recent work in microfiltration, analytical systems development, and chromatographic and flow-injection analyses.
