He has done recent studies analyzing and justifying his companies migration from 3D wireframe design systems to solid modeling design and simulation systems. He produces product photorealist rendering directly from CAD models to show product appearance prior to prototyping. He has developed products using Euclid3. This allows him to review all mechanical aspects of the design process. Designs are done with minimum fabrication costs with plastic sheet metal cast and machined part optimization. PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT DEVELOPMENT. Expert has spent the majority of his career as a project manager/mechanical engineer in the development of custom assembly and test equipment. This work involves all aspects of the development from project justification to mechanical design to system level debug to maintenance manual development. The equipment developed involved the integration of vision systems, robotic control systems, lasers, microscopes, custom manipulators, and multi axis positioning stages, to name a few. The integrated systems performed tasks such as IC pick and place, automatic soldering of electronic components, high resolution inspection of integrated circuits, wirebonding and stripping, and multiple types of custom production tooling. PRODUCT DESIGN. Over the last four years, Expert has been developing many types of products. He has done this as one of the owners of a product development consultancy in the Silicon Valley. His business integrates the sale of 3D CAD/CAM/CAE systems with a mechanical development group. These together create the optimum Rapid Product Development team. They use the products they sell to help companies release products rapidly and accurately. Expert is specifically involved in the thermal and structural analysis, the detailed 3D mechanical layouts and drawings, the prototype coordination and the business management their programs. Specific products developed include cellular phones, speakers, high frequency antennas, rack mounted instruments, motorcycle windshields, radio telescopes, and electronic hand tools. These involved the detailed knowledge of plastics, sheet metal, castings, machining, and die castings. PHOTO-REALISTIC RENDERING. Expert creates renderings of CAD solid and surface models. These are used by his clients as market or survey tools prior to production of a product. This imagery is created on Silicon Graphics computers and output is on high-resolution color printers.
