Many projects he has worked on over the past 40 years have involved the cost reduction of packages. The emphasis on most projects has been damage reduction and/or cost improvement, covering domestic, export and military packaging. The products Expert has worked on include industrial, commercial, and consumer goods. He conducted a multi-plant study for packaging cost reduction and improved customer satisfaction (commercial products). This included visiting five plants and seven customers to identify opportunities; identifying twelve projects to reduce packaging costs over $400 million; identifying several projects to reduce in-transit damage; making specific recommendations for each project; and comparing operations to industry best practices.

Expert provides test plans for packaged products and recommends methods such as palletizing, slip sheets, stretch wrapping, and others. He developed an extensive packaging performance testing protocol for a major industrial corporation. This included test equipment descriptions and details on conducting tests to ASTM and ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) requirements for a variety of distribution systems and full range of package sizes. He also designed and tested a palletized bulk pack for an inexpensive small commercial product. Expert's unique design reduced the possibility of in-transit damage to products that are presently shipped in individual boxes via LTL truck. It also uses a lighter grade of corrugated, but is qualified for LTL trucking by successfully passing Rule 180 test requirements.
