Expert modified acetal resins for injection molding applications with glass fibers, impact modifiers, and stabilizers. Most recently he has developed antistatic grades of acetal resin with two different technologies. Expert knows the process of polymerization and the technology of compounding acetal with additives. In addition, he knows acetal resins properties, markets, applications, and the various manufacturers of acetal polymers in the world. He keeps up-to-date literature from the USA based manufacturers of acetal resins.

Expert has worked for five years developing grades and applications of engineering plastics with antistatic properties. He is familiar with all types of technologies of antistatic agents, the mechanism of their activity, manufacturers, and other properties. He keeps literature on many of these materials and is pursuing consulting assignments with manufacturers of antistatic materials.

Having evaluated various conductive polymers as additives to engineering plastic, Expert is familiar with their properties and processing characteristics. He follows the technical developments on these materials by attending seminars and reading the commercial and technical literature.

Most of Expert's work during the last 17 years involved development of new grades of engineering thermoplastics. In order to achieve the objective, he had to use additives to modify the properties of the plastic resins to fit specific application needs. Expert has developed a very broad knowledge of plastic formulations and of the additives that are used to achieve the desired properties with plastic formulation.

The experience and know-how Expert developed covers a broad range of engineering thermoplastics with large volume materials such as polyamides, polyesters, polycarbonate, acetal, and also the smaller volume materials for high-temperature applications such as PPS, polysulfones, PEEK, and others. In addition he worked extensively with the newest materials that are being commercialized by Dow, Shell, and Ticona. Expert is a director of a three-day course on engineering plastics conducted once a year in USA and in Holland.

Expert has developed many varieties of fire-resistant engineering plastics. He presented technical papers on fire resistant plastics in three conferences. He is knowledgeable of the technology of fire resistant plastics, test methods, applications, and of the various manufacturers of these materials.

|
While at Hoechst Celanese, Expert worked with various copolyester resins as modifiers for the injection molding products based on homo-polyester resins. Two grades of such blends were commercialized for automotive and electrical applications. In addition, copolyester elastomers such as Hytrel (discussed earlier) are part of the copolyester family.
|
|
|
While developing fire-retardant plastics, Expert became very familiar with the fire-retardant chemicals that are used as additives to plastics. He is knowledgeable of the wide variety of technologies and of new trends in the technology driven mainly by environmental and toxicological issues.

|
During his work, Expert used a wide variety of heat stabilizers as additives that protect the plastic resin from high temperature during the processing and latter from the high temperature during the life of the plastic part. He is familiar with various type of heat stabilizers, their use for various polymer types, their manufacturers, and their mechanism of action.

While working at LNP Engineering Plastics, Expert developed materials based on most commercial high-performance polymers such as PPS, PEI, polysulfone, polyethersulfone, PEEK, and LCP. In addition he teaches the course on engineering plastics about these materials, therefore, Expert is familiar with their properties, applications, and their manufacturers.

Expert has developed a number of materials with an impact modifier as the primary or secondary additive. He has the knowledge of various types of impact modifiers and the technology of incorporating them into a plastic resin. He knows the main applications of plastics with impact modifiers as well as the commercial issues of these modifiers.

In numerous cases Expert had to develop materials with light stability for various applications. He developed the know-how of light stabilization of polymers. He understands the chemistry of decomposition by light and the additives used for various polymers and applications that require light stabilization. He also knows the chemical mechanism of light protection and the test methods used to evaluate these materials.

While working for Hoechst Celanese, Expert was exposed to the technology, applications, and uses of the liquid crystal polymers. He knows the chemistry, the technology of processing, the technology of modifying with additives, and the applications of these materials.
|
|
|
For most of his professional career, Expert has worked to develop new compounds and materials for the injection molding industry. Some of these materials can also be processed by other methods such as extrusion and blow molding. He has the know-how of what the requirements and the limitations of these materials are as well the special characteristics of the injection molding process and injection molding equipment. He is also familiar with the manufacturers of this equipment.

These agents are very special chemicals that increase the rate of crystallization of polymers. In his work, Expert uses nucleating agents for polyamides, PET, and other polymers. He knows agents, how to test for their effect, and their applications.
|

|
Expert performed scale up of many of his newly developed materials, which led to an extensive knowledge of the manufacturing, quality assurance, and all other related issues. During his work, he continuously interfaced with the plant engineers and shift leaders. This experience enhanced intensely his understanding of the plastic manufacturing process.

While working on development of new grades of plastics and new applications for plastics, Expert became very familiar with most plastic properties. He regularly conducted testing such as mechanical, impact, flammability, and electrical tests. In addition, Expert conducted special tests for specific applications such as chemical resistance to various chemicals at various conditions, heat aging tests for Underwriter Laboratories temperature index, and others. Therefore, his experience with plastics properties is quite extensive.

Expert has the knowledge and the personal experience with all thermoplastic materials and with most blends and alloys that are commercially available. He has the knowledge of the additives used to modify them, their manufacturers, and the applications. He is constantly up-to-date on these issues due to his need for this information for the annual course he directs.

Expert worked and developed new grades of polymeric materials, including polyarylate, polybutylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, polyethersulfone, polyphenylene oxide, polypropylene, polystyrene, and styrenic polymer for injection molding and extrusion applications. In addition, he teaches on these materials in the engineering thermoplastic course he directs. He has most of the technical literature from the major manufacturers.

Many of Expert's graduate school courses were in polymer chemistry, polymer physics, and the synthesis of polymers. Also, his graduate research was on synthesis and characterization of polymers. Therefore, in addition to his industrial and professional experience with plastics materials, he has the theoretical knowledge of polymers from the university.

|
His working experience in the field of engineering plastics taught Expert a wide variety of polymer applications. In addition to his personal experience with applications in the field of transportation, electrical, business machines, furniture, and appliances, Expert also posses knowledge of applications in packaging, construction, medical, and other wide varieties of polymers applications.

Expert's work experience exposed him to a wide knowledge of polymer blends. He developed many polymer blends and two of his patents cover polymer blend formulations. He is familiar with the technology to produce most current commercial blends, the manufacturing, and the processing issues as well as the economics and commercial issues associated with these materials.

Expert's doctoral research concentrated on grafting and crosslinking reactions. He has studied the crosslinking process in theory and performed it in the laboratory. During his professional experience, he learned more about commercial applications of the crosslinking process and the benefits it makes in many applications.

In many of his projects Expert dealt with polymer degradation. He learned and resolved many of the polymer degradation problems by various additives or changing processing conditions. He is knowledgeable of the numerous mechanism for polymer degradation, their effect, tests for polymer degradation, and methods to slow down the degradation process.

Expert learned about various interactions between polymer and other materials developing new blends, developing new applications, and working with adhesives, paint systems, and other materials that come in contact with polymeric materials.
|
|
|
In his industrial experience, Expert was directly involved in marketing and market development of polymers. The major areas that he worked in were automotive, electrical and electronic, industrial, appliances, office furniture, business machines, and wire and cable.
|
|
|
Many times in his development work, Expert relied on polymer morphology to study impact/failure characteristics, interaction of the polymer with other materials or polymers, and other issues. He knows the methods and the equipment used and the interpretation methods of the results to reach the right conclusions.
|
|
|
Much of Expert's development work concentrated on the process of injection molding and extrusion applications. He also developed materials for blow molding and rotomolding processes. He is familiar with the process of compression and thermoforming of plastic materials.
|
|
|
Expert had worked closely with synthetic chemists to change chemical composition of polyester and polyamide type polymers in order to change their thermal and mechanical properties. He has first-hand experience on structure-property relationship of polymers.

Thermal analysis is one of the major methods Expert has relied upon to characterize polymers and plastic formulations. In fact, in his presentation on June 3rd, 1998 he discussed two methods to conduct a TGA of flame retardant additives to study their thermal stability.

Expert has extensive experience using inert filers or various minerals with and without surface treatment for plastic formulations to change properties such as cost, warpage, shrinkage, modulus, impact, specific gravity, thermal conductivity, and others.

|
While working at LNP, Expert developed number of grades based on HDPE, PP, and LDPE. In addition, he follows the major development in polyolefin technology such as the metallocene catalyst system and the new and exciting applications for polyolefins in automotive, construction, and packaging.

|
Expert worked with various materials such as Kratons, Urethanes, and Santoprene. He used these materials as a base polymer for new formulations and also as impact modifiers for other polymers. He has the knowledge of their chemistry and their physical and mechanical properties.

During the development of various materials Expert used many lubricant additives to enhance the flow and mold release and modify other properties in the plastic. He knows most lubricants for various polymers and the way they are added and used in the plastic industry.
