He is credited with being the inventor of the thermal inkjet printing (Deskjet, DeskWriter, PaintJet) technology, the designer of the optics package for Hewlett-Packard's first laser printer, the inventor of a laser-produced shock wave particle removal method for semiconductor wafer cleaning, and many other designs and processes associated with semiconductor wafer inspection, optical read-only memories, gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, mass spectrometry, and ESCA. THERMAL INK-JET PRINTER; BUBBLE JET PRINTER; DROP-ON-DEMAND INK-JET PRINTER. Expert is acknowledged to be the inventor of the thermal inkjet process currently used by Hewlett-Packard and other companies. His invention, the first principles of inkjet printing, and his hands-on practice in the laboratory have clearly qualified him as an expert in these areas. He stays current with the most recent progress in the field. He can offer advice on ink-jet inks, droplet size measurement, and ink drop formation. Expert has received three national awards and has been named on five US patents for his contributions to printing technology. OPTICAL INSTRUMENTATION; OPTO-MECHANICAL DESIGN. Expert has extensive experience with scanned optical systems such as those used in laser printing or raster scanned particle detectors. The majority of the optical collection systems he has worked with have been of the non-imaging variety used in the detection of small particles on surfaces. His background has included work with methods of parallel recording optical emission vectors from a near point source over an entire hemisphere of collection area on a single PMT. His experience has included extensive use of fresnel lenses, where applicable. Expert's experience has included the design of the optics package for Hewlett-Packard's first laser printer.
