Summary of Expertise:

Listed with other top experts in:

Expert has eight years of experience participating in the development of the pulse Doppler Air Force E3A Airborne Early Warning Radar. He was manager of the Boeing Radar Analysis and Test Technical Staff that was responsible for ensuring the technical performance of the radar and testing procedures and analysis of radar performance. He actively participated in detailed design performance and analysis and reporting of ground and flight test data. For three years Expert helped develop a CW bistatic Doppler radar used for intrusion detection and alarm for surveillance of prison areas and protection of missile or aircraft flight areas. For four years he consulted for Science Applications International on the possibility of modifying and installing the Navy Grumman E2C radar as well as other radars on a Boeing vertical take-off aircraft. Expert is the author of the book "Airborne Early Warning Radar."

Expert has 20 years of experience with airborne radar, which includes work with Doppler radar and design concept development for radars to be mounted on yet to be developed large aircraft, drones, and missiles. He has developed equipment weight and volume characteristics for given levels of performance to guide the installation of radar equipment into aircraft. He has predicted the aircraft effect on the antenna pattern of the E2C radar by the V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft and measured the propeller modulation of the radiation pattern of a phased array antenna mounted on a scale model of the V-22.

 •

search radar

Expert has experience with airborne, shipborne, and ground early warning systems. He proposed concept designs for Dew-Line aircraft warning using CW Doppler systems, strategic missile defense high-speed search ground radars, and bistatic missile radar systems. He spent several years analyzing the performance of the software used to control a shipboard phased array radar system.

Expert has for six years in his own company been performing research and development of electric bicycle designs and related components. He has developed and confirmed engineering models that predict the performance of battery powered electric bicycles. Expert has helped build and test 23 different electric bicycles with many combinations of motors, batteries, and controls. He is participating in developing a brushless motor and motor controls that will make bicycles with 100-200 km range practical and economical. He has presented nine technical papers describing system design, trip modeling and energy-use optimization. A book on how to build an electric-powered bicycle is in preparation.
