ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATING; NICKEL ELECTROPLATING PROCESS. Expert has experience in research and development of electroless nickel plating products and processes. He has studied electroless nickel plating on zinc die castings, thin-film memory discs, metalized ceramics, as well as for printed circuit and automotive and other electronic applications. PLASTIC ELECTROPLATING PROCESS. Expert is knowledgeable of the preparatory steps (including etching and sensitizing catalysts) for electroless plating of nickel and copper on plastic substrates. He is a co-author of a book on plating on ABS plastics. ELECTRODEPOSITION; ELECTROPLATING PROCESS; ELECTROLYSIS. Expert is knowledgeable of a whole range of electroplating materials and processes, having written several articles and book chapters on the subject. He has worked with plating of gold, silver, and nickel (including sulfamate, nickel sulfate (Watts), Woods strike, and bright leveling nickel. He has applied cyanide, acid, and pyrophosphite processes to copper deposition. He is familiar with sulfuric acid and methanesulfonic acid processes in electroplating tin (including stannate). He has also worked with aluminum, zinc, chromium (hard chrome, decorative, and trivalent), magnesium, cadmium, brass, bronze, and other alloy deposits. He can answer questions on cleaning, activating, and surface conditioning processes. PRINTED-WIRING BOARD PLATING PROCESS. Expert has extensive experience with the preparation for and plating of printed-wiring boards. He has worked with through-hole and surface mount boards as well as passive devices and flex, rigid, and molded circuits. He has also worked extensively with electroplating of multichip modules. COPPER CLEANING; COPPER DEGREASING. A significant portion of Expert's experience involves formulating cleaners and degreasers for copper and copper alloys. He is familiar with acid alkaline and solvent processes as well as special formulations for leaded copper, beryllium copper, phosphor bronze, and others. COPPER PLATING PROCESS. Expert is knowledgeable of many types of copper plating processes such as acid copper, fluoborate copper, pyrophosphate copper, cyanide copper, and electroless copper. DIRECT ELECTROPLATING PROCESS. Expert is experienced in the use of process cycles and chemistry for direct plating of through-hole printed circuits. He is knowledgeable of both theory and practice of direct electroplating of most plateable metals and alloys. ELECTROGALVANIZING. Some of Expert's career involved zinc plating continuous strip steel as practiced by steel mills. He has done zinc electroplating from acid, fluoborate, alkaline, chloride, and cyanide electrolytes. ELECTROLESS PLATING. Expert has extensive experience in electroless plating of nickel-phosphorus, nickle-boron, and electroless nickel alloy plating involving various metals, electroless copper, and electroless palladium. He is familiar with equipment, process design, formulation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
