MAGNETO-OPTIC DATA STORAGE. Expert was in charge of the development of a magneto-optic (MO) data storage system. He participated in the development of the MO rare-earth storage film, assembled a polarizing microscope system with associated laser and electronic equipment, and evaluated the storage of data in MO storage films. MAGNETICS; PERMANENT MAGNET. Expert participated in the development of a fine particle permanent magnet material that was manufactured and marketed by the General Electric Company. He discovered a new magnetic anisotropy, Exchange Anistropy, which is now considered the newest method of making permanent magnetic materials. He also was in charge of the development of a high-speed magnetic printer for which he received an IR 100 Award. FERROMAGNETISM. Expert was retained as an expert by the U.S. Government to assess the feasibility of an application using a ferromagnetic material in a force-producing structure. HUMIDITY SENSOR. Expert developed a fast-response, porous-membrane humidity sensor described in. MAGNETIC DATA STORAGE MATERIAL; MAGNETIC RECORD; RARE EARTH MAGNETISM. Expert evaluated cobalt-chromium (CoCr) perpendicular recording data storage films and rare-earth magnetic-optic perpendicular data storage films. |
