During nearly ten years with the Post Cereal Division of General Foods Corporation, Expert learned all of the formulation, processing, packaging, marketing, and distribution operations involved in producing ready-to-eat breakfast cereals. Products were based on corn, oats, rice, and wheat, Rice Puffs, Wheat Puffs, and Postum Cereal Beverage. Expert also performed competitive product and field performance surveys and at various times was responsible for troubleshooting, product and process improvement, new product development, and cost reduction programs for both RTE cereals and dry corn milling operations.

Since he started his consulting practice, Expert has participated in organizing and staging conferences for high tech entrepreneurs designed to instruct them in how to commercialize inventions, and start-up and manage a business. The most recent, a National Innovation Workshop, was sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Energy. He was a co-chair and moderator of a conference on new packaging developments, Pack Alimentaire '92. Expert has also initiated and managed personal development programs for technical people reporting to him.

Expert has a record of successful new product development related to packaged foods and beverages; food ingredients; thermoplastics; plastic adhesives, inks, and coatings; foundry binder resins (urea formaldehyde/furfural alcohol resins); and basic and specialty chemicals. As a result, he is familiar with the development process from idea generation to market introduction of both consumer and industrial products in several industries. Most of Expert's experience is in food product development, specifically ready-to-eat cereals; dry, concentrated, hot, and cold beverages; confectionery; baked goods; aseptic, retorted, and hot-filled canned products; frozen foods; refrigerated foods; and snacks.

Presently, Expert is Editor and Publisher of a semi-monthly newsletter dealing with strategic issues affecting the food industry. He is also U.S. Editor of a bi-monthly international magazine dealing with food industry technical and marketing news. For three years Expert was Publisher of a regional monthly magazine with a circulation of 11,000 which targeted members of technical professional societies in central New York. As a result, he has expertise in the design, production, and marketing of technical periodicals.

1956 to 1960   England   For Woodall-Duckham Construction Company in London, Expert assisted in the design and operation of high temperature petroleum cracker for pilot plant production of natural gas from light flash petroleum distillate. He also conducted various bench-top studies to do with catalytic reforming of natural gas, and design of coke oven batteries.
1954 to 1956   Scotland   For McGregor & Company in Dundee, he designed a process for internal lamination of PVC to fire hose; designed equipment and a method for repairing pin-hole leaks in fire hose; and also formulated a system for external coating of fire hose with waterproofing and fire-retardant agents.
1948 to 1954   Scotland   For B.X. Plastics, Ltd. in Dundee, Expert developed a range of inks for printing most types of thermoplastic films, including PVC, PVDC, polyethylene and polypropylene. He also assisted in the development of formulations for most types of thermoplastic materials.
1965 to   Western Europe, Latin America & Japan   Note that in addition to living in the UK, Expert is a member of UK professional societies and while managing international R&D for Borden, General Foods, and Quaker Oats, he interacted on a continuing basis with colleagues in most countries in Western Europe and Latin America. His appointment as U.S. Editor of Food Marketing & Technology is through the Dr. Harnisch Company of Nurnberg, Germany.
