ORGANIC SYNTHESIS; ORGANIC REACTIONS; NATURAL PRODUCT. Expert and
his research group have successfully carried through many total syntheses of natural products. In
addition, he has originated, reduced to practice, and published many new methods for effecting organic
transformations. He also has a file of literature reactions that is more extensive than REACS or SYNLIB,
and can be searched more quickly. ASYMMETRIC SYNTHESIS; ENANTIOSELECTIVE CATALYSIS. With his research group, Expert has
developed new methods for the enantioselective preparation of organic intermediates. He has 30 years
of direct research experience and a thorough working knowledge of the relevant chemical literature. He is
also an expert in prostaglandin synthesis. TRANSITION-METAL-MEDIATED ORGANIC REACTIONS. Expert and his research group have
developed several new methods for transition-metal-mediated carbon-carbon formation. CATALYSIS. Expert and his research group have developed several new methods for transition metal
complex catalysis of organic reactions. They have experience in computer-based modeling of transition
metal complexes and transition states, and in the use of those techniques to design improved catalysts.
