combustion efficiency expert
combustion system expert |
Expert has spent 10 years of his career with a company that designs and sells various combustion systems. His experience with gas flares and flare systems runs from the design to the installation and operation of the actual equipment. He has designed steam assisted, air assisted, high pressure staged, and enclosed smokeless flare systems. The design of flare systems also includes the design of liquid seals for isolation, staging, and prevention of flashbacks, as well as the designing of knockout drums for removal of liquids or solids from gas streams entering the flare. He also has experience with the following items associated with flare systems: velocity and molecular type seals, enclosed flares (invisible flame), flares for gasoline loading terminals, flares for marine loading systems, guy wire, self and derrick supported flares, and off-shore platform flares and vents. He has one patent for a staging system commonly associated with streams which range in flow, and which burn gases which are pre-mixed with air. |

incinerator expert |
Expert's experience with incinerators includes mostly vapor stream incinerators, but has included some liquid waste stream incinerators. He has designed and started up several incinerators. The design of incinerators includes specification of refractory, development of combustion efficiency calculations, design of quench systems, and scrubbing systems for incinerators. |

vapor recovery expert
vapor absorption expert
vapor control expert
vapor recovery unit expert |
Expert has spent most of his professional career designing various types of vapor recovery systems. These systems have collected vapors from truck, rail, and marine applications. The collection systems have utilized a wide variety of end devices for either the combustion or collection of hydrocarbons in the vapor stream, including carbon absorption systems, air assisted flares, enclosed flares, and lean oil absorption systems. The systems are typically designed to handle vapors which are within the flammable limits of the hydrocarbon without allowing combustion or detonations to occur in the vapor header. |

marine emission control regulation expert
emission control expert
marine vapor recovery expert |
The U.S. Coast Guard promulgated regulations governing the collection of vapors generated from the loading of vessels in June, 1990. Since then, a major portion of Expert's career has been spent developing systems for use in these applications, and approving designs of other companies on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was selected as one of the original "certifying entities" to act on behalf of the Coast Guard as a reviewer of systems. His company designed, assisted with the installation, and started up the first Coast Guard certified system in the United States. He authored the American Petroleum Institute's proposed guideline for the training of operators of marine emission control systems and vessels with vapor collection systems. As part of these applications, Expert has been involved with the testing and development of detonation arresters, which are now an integral safety part of vapor collection systems. |

| Selected Consulting Examples: |
-
Expert has provided on site consulting for a marine terminal in Lousianna for the purpose of selecting and installing a USCG certified marine vapor control sytem. As a result of the service, the company reduced the overall budget by approximated $750,000.
-
Expert provide on site consulting for a Texas City, TX company for the purpose of re-rating and existing vapor control system flare. As a result of the service, the compaany was able to modify the existing flare for a cost of about $300k versus buying a new system for $1,000,000. The company had previously worked with several combsution vendors before hiring Expert. All vendors said the existing system could not be modified to meet the new service demands.
