FILM COATING PROCESS; FILM SURFACE TREATMENT; POLYESTER FILM COATING. Expert's specialty is the coating of films (particularly polyester film), and metal and paper surfaces with resins, resin-pigments, adhesives and/or mixtures of these substances to produce useful products. The coating methods with which he is familiar include reverse roll, Meyer rod, gravure, knife over roll, air knife, kiss roll, squeeze roll, and saturation. He has researched, formulated, and produced products employing solvent- and water-based resin systems including acrylics, vinyls, polyurethane, SBR, and cellulose systems for the graphic arts, drafting, computer graphics, and related industries. Expert developed a new line of image receptive film coatings including transparent and optically clear coatings that are receptive to carbon ribbon and toner powders. He also developed transparent colored coatings and transfer coatings. COATED WEB; FILM FINISHING TECHNOLOGY. Expert is familiar with most coating methods and has solved a variety of clients' problems. He has also developed new products. He has worked with light-sensitive materials, functional properties, and decorative solutions for hundreds of products. Expert can recommend methods to solve most coating problems. POLYETHYLENE FILM COATING. Expert has 10 years of experience in polyethylene manufacturing and new product development, including setting up extruders for compounding and blowing film. He has also developed finishing processes for films by coating polyethylene, polylaminates, and paper-ply substrates. CORROSION PREVENTION. Expert has used volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCIs) and contact corrosion inhibitors to solve storage and shipping problems for the automotive, electronic, marine, oil production, and aeronautical markets. He has spent 10 years developing and marketing VCI film and paper for both corrosion prevention and for protection of metal surfaces during manufacturing operations. This work includes military and nonmilitary projects throughout the world. BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT; ODOR CONTROL. Over the course of his career, Expert has become knowledgeable of the biological treatment of wastes for cleaning water and eliminating odors. This technology was considered revolutionary when he started but is now being widely accepted. Two new products that Expert has worked with are presently working well to eliminate odors by micronutrients and/or chemical absorption. WASTE REDUCTION; ENVIRONMENTALLY-CONSCIOUS MANUFACTURING. There is no longer a need to pollute the environment. Environmentally-conscious manufacturing (ECM) methods produce satisfactory solutions, both environmentally and financially. Familiar with ECM practices, Expert has used the three-step process of choosing environmentally friendly raw materials, recycling whenever possible, and disposing of wastes in an appropriate manner to ensure industrial waste reduction. NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. Expert has been a consultant in new product development projects for over 25 years. His experience has led to the development of techniques that ensure new product successes.

Expert has used flexographic printing equipment as an inexpensive and very useful method for coating of many materials. The materials include thick and thin films of polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon and all types of paper. The anilox roll delivers appoximately 1 pound per ream of coating solution and is used as the metering roll in the coating operation. Multiple coatings can be easily applied and at high coating speeds.
